Description

Pair of Loie Fuller lamps executed in gilt bronze by French sculptor Raoul Larche who was active in Paris in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was a proponent of the Art Nouveau movement and these lamps epitomize the flowing sinuous lines and feminine form of the genre.

The subject, Loie Fuller, was a well known dancer of the period and the artist was, by anecdotal accounts, infatuated with her. She was also a costume and stage designer and her billowing gown depicted in these works typifies her costuming. To locate one of these lamps would be an exceptional find, to find two, well, you would either be in a museum or at Red Baron’s Private Reserve.
