Series 1934 A original $1000.00 bill. The Federal Reserve began removing high denomination currency from circulation in 1969. Prior to that, notes in the $500, $1000, $5000 and $10,000 were in circulation. Suffice it to say, the Federal Government does NOT want you to have this bill and because of this, their value has skyrocketed as their availability has greatly diminished.

Primarily, these large bills were used to transfer funds between financial institutions (there was even a $100,000 bill issued expressly for this purpose) but with the progression of electronic transfers, all of these bills are obsolete - except to collectors.

We have sold dozens of these $1000 bills over the years, but none are in better condition than this one as there is virtually ‘no evidence of handling’ to the unaided eye.
